History of Saltburn Library
Saltburn Library was originally built in 1869 as a reading room, and was funded by Henry Pease. The building was later converted into a public library in 1896, and has been serving the local community ever since.
Over the years, the library has undergone several renovations and upgrades to keep up with changing technology and to improve the facilities for visitors. In 2007, the library underwent a major refurbishment, which included the installation of a new roof, improvements to the heating and lighting systems, and the creation of a new children’s area.
Despite these changes, the library still retains many of its original features, including its impressive facade and the ornate ceiling in the main reading room.
